Echos Infinis

Choreography and dance: Benoit Callens & Alicia Cano Smit

Music: Corentin Piquard

Production : KnowEdge ASBL

Co-production : TROIS C-L | Maison pour la danse

Support: Fondation Indépendance by BIL and Escher Theater

Duration: 40 minutes (shorter formats available)

Echos Infinis delves into the concept of loops, drawing from their presence in our daily lives. Inside our minds, we recreate dialogues, oscillating between criticism and affirmation, logic and feeling. These cycles repeat, transform, or break, leading to new loops. Challenged by the constraint of staying connected, our bodies negotiate and explore the impact of these looping paths on ourselves and each other.

The Last Straw

Choreographic Research Project & Solo Development

(in residency at K3, Hamburg in August 2026)

I will be researching the physical and symbolic paradoxes surrounding the character of the Scarecrow, with the purpose of eventually develop a solo piece. The aim is to investigate the dualistic nature of this figure: a solitary sentinel, a lie constructed to evoke fear, yet also a figure of protection and a vulnerable decoy of straw and cloth.

The work consciously engages with the Scarecrow Style, pioneered by the Electric Boogaloos.

Common Ground

Choreography : Alicia Cano Smit

Dancers: Norah Nouche Hoffmann, Igor Filimonov, Alicia Cano Smit

Music by The Herbaliser: The Sensual Woman, Mission Improbable, and Goldrush

Duration: 10 minutes

Presented at Assises de la danse at the Escher Theater on November 23, 2024, and during the 30th anniversary celebration of TROIS C-L | Maison pour la danse.

This piece invites dancers with varied styles to meet, interact, and express their singular voices within a simple, shared structure. Designed to adapt and evolve with each presentation, it accommodates both a flexible cast and a wide range of movement, with each dancer contributing a fresh perspective to our collective culture.

Here, the focus shifts from precise forms toward feeling and sensation, embodying the true spirit of the jam. The dance unfolds in three main phases, each weaving a crucial link between the performers and inviting the audience to enter the rhythm: the groove, the shared pulse, and the play.

Fluency

Choreography and dance: Alicia Cano Smit and Norah Nouche Hoffmann

Every edition, in collaboration with local visual and performing artists, both amateur and professional.

Duration: The performance lasts around 15 minutes, it is generally part of a social evening with music, exposition and exchange.

Fluency is a site-responsive dance project that explores movement as a state of ease, adaptability, and continuous connection-between bodies, space, and various artistic influences. Our process is informed by three past successful editions in Walferkultuschapp, Luxembourg

At its core is a duet, in dialogue with visual arts, music, and performance, with the aim of creating a multi-sensory, immersive experience.

Crucially, Fluency has always included a strong community engagement component. Following the positive response to our first edition, the subsequent two editions incorporated workshops with local amateur dancers at Walferkulturschapp in Luxembourg. These participants became co-creators, contributing their unique rhythm and perspectives
